Loevenstein Conservation Area
About
The Loevenstein Conservation Area is approximately 2,9 hectares in extent, consisting of critically endangered Swartland Shale Renosterveld. The site acts as a corridor to other properties where this critically endangered vegetation is found including Tygerberg Nature Reserve. This small conservation area boasts high levels of biodiversity which permits fauna and flora species to thrive and creates a picturesque display for visitors.
The Loevenstein Conservation Area boasts a tremendous variety of plant species within its precinct that includes the near threatened Gladiolus watsonius (Red Afrikaner), the vulnerable Podalyria sericea, the endangered Xiphotheca lanceolata and many more Swartland Shale Renosterveld species that desperately need to be safeguarded in an ever-expanding urban sprawl.
